Are you unable to run? If the answer’s ‘Yes’ then you’re in the right place. If you’re fed up of not having enough energy, carrying a few too many extra pounds and not doing enough exercise, then this programme is just for you. Carla Roxann who leads the programme knows all to well what it’s like to run for the first time. 

“I knew I wanted to get fitter, but I didn’t know where to start. The idea of running seemed impossible. But then I stumbled across a “Couch to 5k” run training programme. To begin with I jogged very slowly for about a minute and then walked and then I gently built it up from there. Now I love running. I’m a lot fitter, have much more energy and I’ve made lots of new friends. My self-confidence has come on leaps and bounds. 

Because of my experience I wanted others to benefit in the same way. I’ve put together a simple programme that allows non-runners to come together at the same starting point. It’s much more fun in a group because everyone supports each other. Once you’ve reached the end of six weeks and you’ve completed your first 5k run, the sense of achievement is incredible.” - CARLA ROXANN

HERE'S HOW THE PROGRAMME WORKS

It starts on the Monday 14th May and lasts 6 weeks You’ll run each week on Monday at 6.45 pm and Wednesday at 6.30pm from the Northowram Sports Club. Saturday runs are at a time/place of your choosing

The group will be limited to just 15 people, led by Carla and her team

All runners will be new to running – If you can walk, you can join in

You must be aged 16 or over but all shapes and sizes welcome

It only costs £6 and for that you'll get 6 weeks training and a 5k Challenge running top to spur you on

Exclusive ‘Couch to 5k’ Facebook group to share tips and provide support as you progress each week

The programme finishes on Saturday 23rd June when you’ll complete your first 5k officially timed park run race in Brighouse. You’ll be cheered on by the Northowram Puma’s and you can invite along your friends and family too

Here’s what a newbie runner had to say:

“I'm the big lump in yellow on the right. I was diagnosed with 4b incurable follicular lymphoma in my organs. A bone marrow transplant saved my life.

I had a tumour in my spine and confined to a wheelchair and couldn't walk. Slowly but surely I re-built my life and through running I met my partner; Rachel Calvert and joined the Puma's.

This is us completing the 2018 London Marathan in record heat.
